Rare silk and silver metal brocade curtains were found in a French chateau with their matching passementerie trims and tassels. This fabric had been in storage since the early 1950's and are in remarkable condition. Likely dates from 1870/1890's. The silver metal threads are still bright and are carried on the entire back of the fabric which was an incredibly expensive process. Brocade depicts floral motifs of exotic flowers, foliage and decorative silver metal swags on a patterned ground. Pastel blues, pinks corals and greens enhance a patterned ground of flower sprigs. Antique French brocade measures about 25 inches in width with one selvage and one folded edge. Scant fading with the silver threads still bright. Pattern is repeated every 12 inches across. This is being offered by the half yard. There are 12 yards available. There are no returns accepted on cut fabric.
