Beautiful "Fleur Bleue" Metis Damask linen in a pattern of roses, bows and wreaths.
Metis is usually a mix of 35% cotton and 65% linen. Also referred to as Damask or coutil.
This lovely ticking dates from the 1940's from a factory in France long closed.
Ticking was traditionally used for mattresses, pillows and home furnishings, but is superb for upholstery and costume.
Here is a translation of the original washing instructions:
"Before washing for the first time, soak for at least 12 hours in lukewarm soapy water. This is to soften the still stiff linen fibers and insure a long life."
This is new old stock in a powder blue, pink, yellow or green. Some colors available in several widths, Most yardage can be cut continuously up to 3 or 4 yards.
This pattern has a lighter reverse just as beautiful as the darker side.
 Sold by the yard.
