Beautiful Metis linen in a heavy weight herringbone weave pattern in grey and white.
Metis is a mix of 35% cotton and 65% linen. Also referred to as Damask or coutil.
This lovely ticking dates from the 1940's from a factory in France long closed.
Ticking was traditionally used for mattresses and pillows, but is superb for upholstery and household furnishings.
Available in two widths.48 or 56 inches. Unused.
Here is a translation of the original washing instructions:
"Before washing for the first time, soak for at least 12 hours in lukewarm soapy water. This is to soften the still stiff linen fibers and insure a long life."
This is new old stock in Grey and white in several widths, Most yardage can be cut continuously up to 2 yards.
This pattern has a lighter reverse just as beautiful as the darker side.
