Antique French gilt gold metal thread is made with real metal wrapped around a cotton core. About the size of sewing thread. Here is the composition as found on the original French label:
0.3% Gold
1.1% Silver
70.6% Copper
28% cotton.
Each hank is 24 meters and consists of 2 dozen convenient pre-cut lengths of 1 meter each. This thread is used in metal embroidery for couching and other embroidery stitches. Price is per skein. Excellent condition.
